Carson Is 6 Months Old

Well, I woke up this morning excited about Carson’s half birthday and decided to throw a party. It was just something little that we threw together at the last minute. Just 50 of our closest friends and family and we sang to him and he opened all of his pres…
…yeah right, I love birthday celebrations but I am not that psycho, especially for a half birthday which I am pretty sure isn’t even real. It’s just silly.
This is what really happened -- 1:30 am Carson was having problems breathing with his runny clogged nose. We woke him up and checked his temperature and tried to give him saline drops and he just got really upset. He cried and cried. I kept saying well maybe he is teething (the doctor later said the teeth are nowhere close to coming). Travis held him and calmed him down. He went back to sleep until about 6:30. We thought he might have problems trying to eat with a stuffy nose, but he didn’t. He ate and I put him back to bed at about 7:30. He slept for about 2 hours and woke up very happy rolling around in his crib. He played on the floor until he was hungry. Lately, Carson has really been loving to play instead of eat. He eats for a few seconds and then looks at me and smiles and then eats for a few more seconds and then tries to roll over (while I am trying to nurse him) and this goes on and on, and today was not the exception. So we only had a little bit of time before his 6 month well visit at noon. Travis gave him a bath with extra bubbles and got him dressed for his doctor’s appointment. He was starting to get a little bit cranky right before we left because it was his naptime. We got to the doctor and he hadn’t fallen asleep yet. He was really good though, he got to play with Dad the whole time we were waiting. He weighs 17 lbs. 10 oz. and is 27 1/4 inches long. That puts him in the 50th percentile for weight and 90th for length. That is where he has been since about his one month check-up so he is doing really well. He got a couple 3 shots today and thanks to his newfound love for his pacifier, he didn’t even cry until the third shot and it was only for a second. That was the good part of the day for Carson. The rest of the day he was just not a happy guy. He pretty much cried all day and didn’t want to go to sleep. It was lots of fun! I could tell that he just needed to go to bed. At about 7:30 I gave him a bath, fed him, said prayer and he went right to sleep. Phew! The poor little guy was just having so many problems today. **This picture is a little bit blurry but I love the drool and "the look" that I get when the camera is out! You can kind of see that eye infection that he got, luckily, right before we went to the doctor. So we got a prescription for that. Well, it is a cream that you have to put in his eye… not easy! It will be ok, hopefully Carson has a better day tomorrow! I can’t even believe that he is 6 months old already. Overall, he is such a happy boy that loves being home and outside... just like his Mom and Dad! He is becoming more and more social and I think he likes girls a little better right now. I think a lot of it is the high pitched voices, plus lets be honest, we are cuter! He loves to eat, chew on whatever he can get his little hands on, roll around, play with his toys and have books read to him.

Em- When I first started reading this I thought you'd been abducted by aliens! :o) That was funny. I'm glad to hear that Carson is a healthy little boy! I hope his eye gets better soon!

I love the black and white pics! So cute! And, I totally remember the whole rolling/squirming while nursing...it's so annoying. I would seriously end up with Logan parallel to my leg... imagine that! :) Hopefully Carson gets better by tomorow!
