Wedding Tag

I have been tagged! My friend, Paige, Wedding Tagged me and like I said with the kissy post, it is fun to look through all of these pictures. They aren't that old, Travis and I haven't even been married for two years, but the times when we were dating seems like ages ago! It is always fun to go through pictures and reminisce about things. I couldn't think of anything to add -- Sorry, Paige, I am lame -- but everyone should do this and if they think of something to add then yay!

1.What date is your anniversary?
August 11, 2006

2.Where did you get married?
Mesa, Arizona Temple

3. Who proposed and how?

June 9/10, 2006 -- Travis proposed to me. As he should, since I kissed him first and told him I loved him first. And as I think about it I also told him I wanted to marry him long before we talked marriage. So I basically did everything else and the thought never occured to me to ask him. Would I have had to give him a ring?? Cause that wasn't happening! I lived with my sister, Rachel, and her family. I got off of work at around 11:30 that night, from waitressing. I figured Travis wouldn't want to hang out because it was late, but he said he did. So I went straight home, didn't shower (ick) and just changed into pajamas. Travis got there right at the same time I did, so I didn't feel like spending time in the shower since it was already so late... and I was lazy. He kept saying, "Are you sure you don't want to shower?" ha, I showed him. Then we were hanging out in my room, because there was a tv in there and that is where we hung out when Rachel's kids were sleeping, and he said he have a dvd to watch. So I was excited, I thought we were going to watch a movie or something. He put in the dvd and it was a video of pictures of us together and it went along to a Brad Paisley song, The World (which was popular at the time) and then he asked me to marry him. I could tell he was so nervous, so that was fun. And now as I type this he is informing me that he was conned into proposing to me... yeah, whatever! He reminded me that I had already had a dress. Yes, that is true, I did have a dress, I got it earlier that day, actually. But we already knew we wanted to get married and we knew it would probably be at the end of the summer so I had to be on top of it just in case it took a little bit of time to get my dress altered and stuff. Don't worry, I just reminded him that I could have used the dress with anyone! Ha doesn't that just sound like true love. Anyways, it was perfect. I did complain because I looked like total crap so the pictures we have are awful!

4. How long were you engaged?
2 months and a day or two

5. What was the favorite part of your wedding day? (besides who you were marrying, hopefully)

Knowing that we would be together forever, having friends and family at such an intimate occasion and if I am being honest -- other things that I shouldn't share.

6. What would you change if you could?
There isn't really much that I would change. There are some people that couldn't make it to town and some family and friends that couldn't come to the temple so if I could change anything that is what it would be. That they could have come to the temple with me.
Oh yeah, did I mention that I got married in August… in ARIZONA! We did the earliest session that was possible to try to stay out of the heat. We all stood outside afterwards for about 10 minutes before we were totally drenched in sweat. So I would maybe change that. Arizona is so nice the rest of the year and we pick one of the hottest months. And then doing it early didn’t work and I am not a morning person, I had to wake up way too early!

7.Wedding colors?

I wouldn't say that I really had "Wedding colors" because we didn't have any wedding party or anything. It was all very low key. The colors of my sash and flowers were like aqua-ish and hot pink. Travis' tie matched my sash. He loved that part (or thought it was ridiculous).

8.Do you remember anything special from your ceremony? Any good advice? A comical moment?
Nope, not really. I do remember right after the ceremony we were giving everyone who was there hugs and I looked at my sister and I just started crying. I cry all the time, though, so nothing out of the ordinary there. For me, it was just this look that we gave each other and I like to think that she was thinking, "Em, I am so proud of you and happy that you are marrying this wonderful guy, Travis, in the temple." So that is what made me cry.

9.Were you clean or messy when you cut your wedding cake?
I don't remember?!? I remember doing it at our open house here in Mesa, but only because everyone said, oh you have to cut your cake. Honestly, Travis and I didn't really care about that.

10.Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Scottsdale, AZ yeah, pretty far I know. Travis' sister, Tammy, gave us an awesome wedding gift. It was a stay in an awesome condo in Scottsdale. It was nice and quiet and we pretty much just rented movies for 5 days straight. We had to go to Illinois right after and then Travis started school the next Monday, so we had limitations. Plus, we were/are cheap and poor and anything free we will take!!

11.How long have you been married now?
We have been married for one year and 8 months, I think.

Allie and Jackie and Trisha... tag you're it!

I feel the SAME way about August - but in Illinois it was just so hot & humid I thought I would die! We also had a morning wedding, I think I was up at like 5:30 or something so we could get back to Charleston that evening.

I love that you didn't care about your cake, either! If it weren't for my mom, we probably wouldn't have had one - I'm not much of a cake person anyway.

Thanks for doing the tag, it's so fun to get in on the details of people's stories, especially engagement & dating stores, they are always so funny. :)
