8 Months

Carson is 8 months old as of yesterday! Every single time another month goes by I can't believe it! He is getting so big and his little personality is really coming out.
Carson's day:
Woke up at 7:00 to eat some breakfast and play for a little bit. Went back to bed right after Dad left for basketball at about 7:45 and slept until 10:30! (I slept that whole time too!) Was really happy all morning and ate lunch at 11:15. He had a fun time trying to get into the kitchen, trying to get the computer cords, trying to get into the bathroom and watching a little bit of his Baby Einstein's video.

Above are pictures of him watching his video. I remember laying like that when I was little!
He went back down for a nap at about 12:15. (It was a lazy Saturday so Mom and Dad took a nap too!) We all share a bedroom, but Carson sleeps in his own bed. I heard him get up at 1 and he layed and played around and stared at the ceiling fan until 2:15. Then I couldn't just lay there anymore so I tried to get up to get some things done and he saw me...obviously! Then we went to Walmart together and Carson had so much fun sitting in the cart like a big boy and looking around at everyone. I don't think he made a peep the entire time we were there. Then last night we went to Ethan's house to babysit the 3 kids. Carson had way more area to cover and loved crawling all over. He especially loved following his cousins around all night. He fell asleep and I was excited because it was before 8 and he has been going to sleep so late this past week (he went to my soccer game tuesday night and it got over at 10:20 and he was still wide awake.) Then about 20 minutes later he woke up screaming and wouldn't calm down or go back to sleep. I think he may have been a little scared since he was in a different room. So he got to play... again... until we went home at 9:30 and fell asleep in the car on the way home!
Some things Carson has been doing lately:
He loves to follow us around all day. When we go in the kitchen he wants to be in the kitchen, when we are on the computer he wants to be chewing on the computer cords(which we don't let him do) and when we go in the bedroom or bathroom he crawls a lot faster towards the open doors! He is pulling himself up to his knees and can get one foot up, but hasn't figured out both feet to stand yet. Loves, loves, loves naptime... whether he sleeps or just plays in his crib. Has a new found affection for Cubby Bear. Loves to take naps with him. Is amused by the silliest things and will laugh at it over and over until we get sick of doing whatever it is! Has started to dislike some foods. Pretty much hates peas, green beans and carrots. No matter how they are disguised and combined he figures out that they are in there, and I don't blame him. Still like zucchini and sweet potatoes and of course all fruit. He also wants anything that Mom and Dad are eating or drinking. Loves to share their water cups. He has not been napping when we go places lately (for the last couple of weeks). He stays awake the whole time and then I put him down right when we get home and he goes right to sleep like he has been waiting for it. It probably doesn't help that it is so hot outside... I wouldn't want to sleep in my car seat, all sweaty, either. He has two teeth still and I think he is getting some more, I don't really see them, but the symptoms are there. i.e. cranky and chewing on everything. He also got his first haircut, by Mom, and his hair is still coming in more and more each day. I have no clue what his stats are because we don't go to the doctor until 9 months. But my guess is by that time he will have officially outgrown his infant car seat. Which is probably a good thing because he is getting hefty to carry everywhere in it! I don't know what we will do doing church, though. Maybe just take it with us until he is 5... or 18 months and can go to nursery!!
Carson is such a happy boy, I know I say that a lot but he really is. He has his days, like we all do, but usually is very good. He enjoys playing with anything he can get his hands on (of course, the more off limits, the more fun) and has times when he wants us to play with him and times when he entertains himself for awhile. It is really nice. He is still a great sleeper and I think that is what helps him be happy most of the time, that and his pacifier.

Above is a picture of Carson, he usually falls asleep in his crib sideways. Which cracks me up because he is too long for it!

We both love him more and more each day and are so grateful for all of the things he has taught us. We try to be good parents and pray that we can always teach him what we know to be right! I pray, also, that he can always have a relationship with his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and that he can just continue to be happy, like he is now!!

Happy eight month birthday Carson! Love your journaling, Emily, you will be glad when you have more than one -- you will remember what they were doing when and not just combine the kids :)
