10 MONTHS!

To Carson:
Today you are 10 months old! Every single day and week and month that goes by I am so happy that you are our little boy. I still can't believe you are so big already! You are learning so many new things every day. Just yesterday while you were crawling around you put your head-face down on the carpet while you were crawling. You are still doing it today. You have started to get a little bit of a rug burn on your forehead.
Today you woke up right at about 7 and were being very quiet in your crib. As soon as I lifted my head to see if you were awake you saw me and were very happy. I got you out pretty quickly so we could let Dad sleep and you played with your toys quietly. Your favorite toy right when you wake up is your stacking toy with the different cups that Grandma Garrett got for you. You love the littlest one and carry it around with you when you crawl. After you ate breakfast you played and watched Dad make breakfast and walk around and get ready. As soon as you hear the bathroom door open and see the light you are headed that way in seconds. As soon as we went into the bathroom to say goodnight to Dad you couldn't stop smiling at the funny baby in the mirror! You went back to bed at around 8:15 and I finally got you out of your crib at 11:30. I wasn't even sure if you were awake because you were in there being so quiet. I was getting kind of bored without you so I listened really carefully by the door and I could hear you in there talking. I took the video camera in with me and you started bouncing and smiling!
After that you got out your books (I am pretty sure, every single one) and sat quietly trying to turn the pages while I made some lunch. While I was eating you were in the middle of the floor and you looked up at me and held out one arm and smiled. So I went over to you and you grabbed my hand so I could take you walking. This is one of your favorite things to do right now. If your dad or I are sitting in a chair you will come over and try to pull our hands so we can help you walk. You just go around in circles. As soon as we say that you can do it on your own and try to let go you just slowly sit down. You have stood up quite a few times and have taken one or two steps a couple of times on your own. You are very wobbly and it is very cute. Of course it is pretty easy to help you walk because you are so tall that we hardly have to bend over. After I ate lunch I fed you some "milk" and for lunch you had sweet potatoes and applesauce and barley cereal. You ate every bite, as usual. We got you dressed for the day, finally, and you continued to be happy and play around.
You did get upset with me when I had to tell you NO. The blinds are officially off limits and you still love them. There are 8 vertical blinds that are broken right now, 2 just from yesterday and 1 from today! So I had to tell you no, and you got sad. But I put you by your other toys and you quickly forgot that you were sad. We played around on the floor for a little bit. Then I vacuumed and you were eyeing that thing the entire time. And of course, when I turned it off, then you got scared. So I put it away safely in the closet so it wouldn't be able to get you!
At about 1:15 I told you a bedtime story and put you down for a nap. You couldn't lay down, you had to sit up to hear the story and I didn't hear a peep after that. Sometimes I think you are taking or have taken a nap to realize that you were just playing in your crib the whole time! Today you fell asleep. You woke up at about 3:30 and were really sad. When you woke up you had lines all over your face from your bed. You looked so stinking cute! I sat on the floor in the living room and let you crawl all over me (you think I am your jungle gym) and play with your toys.
Dad came home at 4:30 and you were so excited to see him. You got to eat dinner and then he held you and played with you and when he walked away you just followed him around. Then you started acting pretty tired (just laying on the floor--too tired to play) and so I gave you a bath. I let you stay in a little longer today and play and you were just so happy to be in there. I always sing Rubber Ducky to you and you always laugh. You played with Dad for the next hour while I went to the store. I got home just in time for family prayer and to kiss you before bed. Dad read you books before bed and you even got to sit on our bed while you guys read. You love to be on our bed. You always play and roll all around!
We were going to take you outside to play but it was really hot today. And you got tired pretty early, so hopefully we can do that soon. We are going to try to take you outside with your hippo that you can push since our apartment is so small. We also have started a new bedtime with you (7 instead of 8) and you have really liked going to bed then. Except when other people are over, then you can't stand going to bed! We love you Carson and it is so fun to be your Mom. I think you will be such a good older brother. And I bet you will just love having a littler kid to show the ropes to!

I think Carson is so lucky to have such loving parents. And Travis is lucky to have you, too!
