Grandma and Grandpa Garrett Visit

My parents came into town for a visit this past weekend. We had a really good time just hanging out and Carson had a lot of fun showing Grandma and Grandpa all of his new skills! On Thursday, Carson and I went out to my brother, Ethan's, house and hung out for the day. Everybody went swimming but I was too lazy to get us both dressed so we put our feet in the pool.Carson decided that he would start to cry when someone else was holding him or if I basically left the room. That part wasn't too much fun, but I must admit it does make me feel good that he misses me when I am gone (I am so selfish). He did have so much fun playing with Jackson, Julianne and Allyson.
Friday night we all went to Glendale and went to eat at Pullano's. It was yummy food and we had a good time.
On Saturday, my mom and dad came over to our place and hung out for most of the day. We pretty much all fell asleep in the afternoon while switching the tv between the olympics and the Cubs/Cards game. This was the first time Travis was able to hang out with my parents because of work and school earlier in the week.
Sunday evening we went back over to Ethan's house to eat dinner with everyone.

Monday morning my parents babysat Carson and Travis and I went out for a couple of hours. Some things that Carson did while we were gone:
  • He wouldn't eat his bottle, even though he was hungry. My mom said he just kept closing his mouth. They did manage to get some peaches and applesauce in his belly.
  • They had to watch his Baby Signs video over and over the whole time he was awake to keep him distracted that we weren't there. When the video got to the part of "Mommy" he would crawl around the apartment looking for me (or Travis) and go to the closed doors to see if that is where we were. So eventually they had to put the video in Spanish, so he wouldn't keep looking for us.
  • **This is what he does when his video is on. That is why it works so well when someone is babysitting.
  • He did start to cry a little bit so they put him in his crib maybe to go to bed? My mom said that he was so quiet she thought he was asleep. When they went in to check on him he wouldn't look at them and went to the other side of the crib (like he didn't want them to get him out). He does the complete opposite when we open the door. He stands at the corner that is the closest to us and practically jumps so we will pick him up, he also laughs the whole time too!
  • When we walked in the door he got really upset, I think it finally hit him that we had been gone. He cried for a little bit and then calmed down. Once he knew we were home he played with his toys and minded his own business.

We have only had somebody babysit Carson a few times and just recently he started the seperation anxiety phase (as cute as it is, hopefully it is a phase). He was happy to be at home but was a little confused that he couldn't find us. Then when we got home he acted like he ruled the playground (our home). It just cracks me up how much they pick up on things and you don't even realize it. I absolutely love this age because he is just learning so many new things every day and his little personality is really coming out.
After my parents hung out for the rest of the afternoon we had to say "bye" and they went back to Ethan's house and left early Tuesday morning. We were sad that they had to leave but can't wait to see them again. Hopefully it will be at Christmas, not all the way at Spring Break!

So you didn't tell me that you have a nephew named Jackson already! Oh well. Isn't it so cute how the babies miss you so much, and do the funniest things when you're not home! It totally does make you feel special, but at the same time, you can't help but feel bad for the babysitter!!!
