To Carson:
For your first birthday, your dad and I took you to the park to play. We had to celebrate it a day early. You liked the park so much and did not want to leave. You got so tired while you were there that you kept falling every 2 or 3 steps. You scraped your knee and it got a little bloody but you didn't even notice. When we picked you up and said lets go home you just wanted down. You especially loved the swings and the slide. You had a fun time staring at the dog that was barking at you, standing in the sprinklers, and trying to eat the rocks. When we set you down on the sidewalk you just started trucking along and would turn around every couple of steps to make sure we were coming with you.

Then when we came home we opened your birthday presents. Grandma and Grandpa Garrett got you a really cool CUBS outfit that will probably fit you pretty soon. They also got you some new books. And they are in english and spanish (your dad will have to read them to you). One explains how to make a burrito, so we hope your dad reads that one to you a lot... and maybe picks up some ideas. You got some new clothes. You got jeans and cool shoes. And you got some trucks, stacking toys, and bath toys. You especially like the bath toys so far.
After that your cousins came over, Allyson, Jackson and Julianne. They brought you some of their favorite toys. You haven't put down the Santa key chain that Jackson brought for you.
We all sang happy birthday to you and let you "eat" your very own chocolate cake. You touched it but then just tried to wipe your hands off on yourself and on the high chair. You did not want that stuff on you. I tried to feed you some so you could see how good it was but you got really mad at me. So you didn't eat any of your cake. Don't worry, I worked on it after you went to bed! You were more interested in the buckles of the high chair.

After the cake, it was getting pretty late and you were pretty tired from the park so we gave you a bath and put you to bed. You went right to sleep and woke up on your actual birthday very happy! We love you and hope you had a good day!
