17 Months!

To Carson:

I can't believe we only have one more month to go and you will be going to Nursery at church. You are such a fun, busy little boy. Lately, you have really been getting into things and making messes. Everytime I go into your room another book is torn up. You throw them all on the floor and then find the one you want and sit and stand on the rest of them. But just today, you put them away right where they go. That is the first time you have helped clean up. And you did such a good job. I said thank you after you put each book in there. So after the first few you would put the book away and then look at me and wait for me to say thank you again. Then you would go get more books to put away.

You have started to climb on everything. You just got a new picnic table and it wasn't even set up yet and you were climbing on it. And this morning when I went into your room you were standing on the top of it in the middle of the room, yelling!

You are trying to say everything that we say. Some days you watch our lips and repeat after we say stuff and some days you just don't really care. My new favorite words that you say are 'cereal' and 'video'. I can't even explain how you say them, I really need to get it on video. And when you say those words you try to either go get cereal (the pantry has a lock) or you open your closet door and sit in front of the tv and wait for me to turn on your video. When you watch the video you watch what they say, then look at me for me to do the signs. And you know what signs are coming before they even do them. Which probably should be the case since you have seen that video so many times. The newest sign that you just started this week is 'Baby'. Maybe it is because Porter is here for you to see a baby. I don't know but it is really cute!

You love to do anything and everything with Daddy. As soon as you hear the keys in the front door, you get so excited. You have started to give him hugs and giggle while you do it. He loves it so much and I just smile watching you two play. You love to take his hat off of his head and wear it around. You love to watch basketball and play with the basketball, just like he does!

You still love to sleep and eat. You love your bedtime routine. You eat dinner and take a bath and then bedtime is at 5:30 and you won't get out of the bathroom after a bath until you have brushed your teeth. And you say 'us te'. Well that is kind of what it sounds like. And by the time you have fallen asleep I miss you so much. I love seeing you run around all day, bringing stuff out of your room for me to read to you or to play with you. Oh and you love to eat everything and are a mooch anytime we are eating anything. Even if you just finished a meal.

You are a really good big brother. You love to watch Porter in the swing and you like to give him a little push when he is in there or his car seat if he is crying. When we have Porter's hand touch your face you smile. I don't think you quite know what is going on with him. But I know as he gets bigger and more mobile you will love to play with him and wrestle, just like you do with Dad.

You are becoming more and more cuddly. Mostly if you get hurt or scared you come over to me and let me hold you. A few days ago you shut your fingers in the pantry door (ok it is USUALLY locked) and they got stuck. You cried so hard and then came and sat by Porter and me on the couch for about 20 minutes. That is a long time. I loved every second of it. Except for the part where you got hurt.

Carson, we all love you so much and feel so blessed to have you in our family. I hope we can teach you the right things and have fun with you.
