Carson -- 22 Months

First off, I am in love with this picture. It was my first attempt at a silhouette and I think I could take these kind of pictures all day. Carson is so little in it, but I can just see his little personality. I can tell that Travis is looking down at him and he is looking down at his own hands.

I know I am always saying that I can't believe how big and old Carson is getting, but it is so true. Every day when he does new things, I think holy cow, how did he learn that? And when did he get so big?
He is such a happy little boy, much happier when he is NOT sick, though. And unfortunately he went back to the doctor this week for another snotty nose and horrible cough. His doctor said that he basically has allergies and asthma, but since he is too young she can't technically say he has either. And he seems to be getting allergies that are then turning into other things i.e. pneumonia and sinus infections. So he is now on 3 different prescriptions and is getting some eczema on his tummy, so we have an over-the-counter topical cream for that. I feel so bad for Carson. I feel like he has been sick almost all summer. And now the albuterol treatments are making him hyper.

Carson still loves his "bss." Translation: "boots." Even when he is not wearing them, he is carrying them around and playing with them. He likes to work out with Mom and/or Dad and he often thinks that his boots are the best shoe for the occasion. Plus now he counts for me when I do lunges and pull-ups. Oh man, I love this kid.

He is talking so much and you must repeat everything that he says. If you don't, he won't move on. And it must be repeated the correct way, not how he actually says it. When he says "PoPo" you have to repeat "Porter" or else he is like a broken record. My favorite thing that he just started saying yesterday is "I Love (Insert Name Here)." His favorite to put after it is Carson, but he also says anything else within his sight -- Mommy, Daddy, PoPo, you, milk, Trisha, Logan. He says it very slowly and when he says love he folds his arms like when we say prayer. He is trying to do the sign for it, because that is what we do/tell him before bed. I don't ever want to forget how stinking adorable this is. It may or may not have made my eyes tear up a couple of times.

Carson loves to play in the kitchen. He loves the one drawer that has no safety latch and is full of oven mitts. He empties that out 5 times a day. Sometimes I am lucky enough for him to put them back... most of the time, I am not.

He also loves the pantry and anything in there within his little reach. The other day I saw things piling up and occasionally I would see his little hand add something to the stack. The pantry also has a lock but he goes by and checks it quite a few times a day and at least once he will usually find it open... lucky kid!

I love going into his room after he has fallen asleep to tuck him in. One day he fell asleep like this and I thought it was funny. Then I pretty much had to pry his little legs free and I felt really bad that I didn't check on him sooner.

I can't get enough of his little chubby fingers and hands. I love it when he is doing things like pointing or touching with only one finger. And he loves PB & J sandwhiches, also PB & Honey. I hate peanut butter so tally it up as another thing he got from his dad.

Carson still loves to read books and likes his special time with Dad and PoPo right before bed. Tonight, he picked out Beyond Bethlehem. He really likes that book that we just got from Grandma and Grandpa Garrett. It keeps him entertained through a lot of Sacrament Meeting too.

Carson loves, loves, loves to be outside... doing anything. If he is at a playground, he plays. If not, he just runs around and points to things and tells us what they are. He will cry to go outside and then when we go downstairs he runs back and forth past our car and every time he says "car" and waits for us to repeat it. When we repeat it, he moves on and turns around after about 5 steps and repeats the process. He would do this forever if we let him. I usually have to bribe him with something pretty good to get him to come back upstairs and inside.
Carson loves Porter and likes to be around him. He likes to wake him up to. They love to say goodnight to each other and they still take better naps when they are both in there.

We usually give Carson some time to play in his room throughout each day. I think it is good for him to play on his own and just play with some toys instead of jumping all over the couch. So we shut the door and he can't get out because of the child lock. You can usually tell when he is done playing because his little fingers show up under the door and he starts yelling "DAAADDDDYYYYY!" It cracks me up that he always yells that and never Mommy.

Carson loves to jump on our bed, and the couch, and his bed, and the chair, and on the floor, and now he does this move that is like a jump, landing like a baseball slide. He learned that one from his cousin Logan.
He loves Logan so much. And we now know this because he told us so today ("I... wuuuv... no knee!") A lot of times they don't even play together, just around each other. But they sure have a good time. When we leave Carson will say Logan's name for the rest of the day... and usually the next one too. Oh and today, they were playing in Carson's room and it had been pretty quiet for a couple of minutes. So I went in to check on them and they were both walking around with a cell phone to their ear (we have some old cell phones that are now toys). And I can picture Logan saying something like "Here you go Carson. Do you want to talk on the phone to Grandma?"

Carson, I love you so much. You make every day fun. Sometimes you are a big stinker, but all I can do is look at you and want a hug and a kiss. Keep on learning, little man. You are a smart boy and you keep us entertained. Thank you!

Aww... That stinks about him being so sick.
I love how through things like blogs we can still learn so much about each others kids. Carson sounds like so much fun.

What a sweet post. Carson sure is cute, it's amazing how much they learn each day, huh? I'm sad he's been so sick, hopefully the medicine helps!

Okay, so I am IN LOVE with that silhouete picture! Seriously, it's awesome! Great Job!!! And, Carson is a cutie! What else can I say! I love that he's such a sponge lately, and talking soooo much! He is almost non-stop talking and craziness.... I LOVE it! (I also love that he learned most of his craziness from Logan..... those two are partners in crime!) Ya, sorry about the jumping tricks he learned from Logan. Oh well. I can't believe he's almost 2 years old! And I love how he loves us too! What a cutie!

Emily--can I just say I'm still laughing b/c of your post!!! That is hilarious. 174th?! That is crazy insane! And how sad that you already know the ending...again cannot stop laughing! ;-) Its ok--at least you don't know how they win. See there is some suspense now! I hope you like it and hopefully most of the anxious library list people will be too anxious to wait that long and the list will get shorter! Keep me updated!
