Porter turned 5 months old yesterday and I am loving every minute of this kid. He is just so stinking happy. All we have to do sometimes is just walk by or talk to him from the kitchen and he laughs. He loves spending time rolling over from his back to his tummy, laying around and watching everyone while still on his tummy, and then getting really mad because he still hasn't "remembered" how to roll back over. He also enjoys chewing on his hands, his shirts, his blankets, and his burp cloths and playing with is feet (I am sure he is trying to chew on them too).
Porter has the biggest pout lip and still loves the words "good morning!" Porter is completely on formula and eats 6 to 8 oz., usually 4 times a day. He is going to start rice cereal soon. He really likes his own bed and his own dark room (well, that he shares with his big brother) and falls asleep on his own. Most of the time when we put him down, I go back in to check a couple of minutes later and he is already passed out. He will scream and get pretty mad if he is out in the living room playing and he is tired. And then as soon as we put him in bed he is happy and quiet. He still lets me rock him to sleep. I usually just hold him across my body and walk around and he just can't seem to keep his eyes open. And he still sleeps about 12 hours at night and takes 2 or 3 loooonnng naps every day.
I swear, each day he gets bigger... obviously... but I mean exponentially bigger. He is wearing mostly 6-9 month clothes but any one piece thing or t-shirt is usually too short. He is just so tall. He is getting some rolls on his thighs too! So chubby and cute, I love it!
Porter loves to laugh. If you fake laugh, he will laugh back. If you tickle him, he will laugh back. If you sing to him, he will laugh back. He likes to talk to you too, usually with coos and sometimes with blowing bubbles. Porter is so easy going. He does HATE his car seat, though. So that is tricky for church and times when we are out because he doesn't want to sleep in it. And because it is so hot that we don't want to leave it in the car.
Porter is such a tv junkie. He will turn and roll and situate himself anytime, so that he can see the tv. He will stop eating just to watch it. Even in the morning when he is really hungry. And I love it when he laughs at the stuff on tv. I mean, I didn't think a stuffed bear playing the drums and directing music could be so funny, but it is! Porter loves to play in his exersaucer and his neck is getting nice and strong. He also loves to stand up. He likes to sit up too. He really just likes to have the best view so he can see everyone and everything that is going on! And his favorite way to be held is facing out.
He likes to "get" Carson. This is where Travis holds him and helps him run and tickle his brother. Carson loves this too and neither of them even know that their dad is involved. It is so funny and cute. I think they are going to play so well together. I think Porter will be the type that doesn't let anything phase him and will just have fun... even if Carson throws a boot at him. If Porter thinks you are talking to him, he smiles. You don't even have to be, he just THINKS you are!
Porter, apparently, likes to wake everyone up at 5 in the morning. He rolls over and can't roll back, gets mad, screams and wakes Carson up. He did that every day last week. Thankfully, it hasn't happened the last couple of days. But I am sure I just jinxed it for tomorrow morning! Porter is so smiley, giggly and just so easy to love. I don't get to spend enough time with him. He is getting so big and it is so fun to see the things that he is learning to do. We love you so much, little guy! Happy 5 months!
**Update Friday, 8/7/09, I am just now posting this, even though I usually do it on the day that Porter turns the next month old. I kept saying I wanted to put more pictures up, especially since I just had so many of Carson. Well, Porter is sleeping a lot and I don't take him outside very much (where I can take pictures) because of his skin problem. So that is why I am finally posting it now. I promise, Porter, that next time I will have a lot of pictures.
