Carson is 23 months!

The little guy will be 2 in just one short month! Holy cow these past couple of months have really flown by. Carson is talking more every day, but I am still pretty sure only Travis and I can understand him. And who knows maybe Porter can too.

His favorite place to talk, of course, is at church during Sacrament Meeting. He repeats every thing we say and right now my favorite is when we are getting ready to go somewhere or get out of the car, I say "ok buddy, let's go" and he repeats "ok buddy" and it sounds like buyee. Oh I love it.

He still loves his boots. He loves all shoes. He loves to get ours out and wear them around. As soon as he puts on my flip flops he walks to the door and says car.

But his new favorites are my pink fuzzy slippers. He loves those things. He was watching Dora and he didn't even know that the monkey's name was Boots, but that was what he was calling him... obviously. It was great.

Carson has a new fascination with dinosaurs. I am not sure if he actually likes them, or just likes saying the word. He usually yells it.

Carson had been climbing into Porters crib and jumping around. So we made Carson's crib into a big boy bed on Saturday night. He has been doing surprisingly well. Every night he climbs up into bed and goes to sleep and sleeps all night. And he hasn't fallen out yet... it is kind of high. He has been waking us all up pretty early (6 is early for all of us). And he won't take naps in his bed yet. So we have been putting him in Porters crib and Porter in the pack n' play (only because Carson is more likely to climb out of the pack n' play).

He has been throwing a lot of tantrums lately. It is pretty pathetic, those tears and that frown just get to me. Today we were at the redbox inside Walmart and all we had to do was turn around to leave and the tantrum began. He ran out of the store crying and laid down in the middle of the entrance and screamed. He was so upset. He kept sniffing in the car all the way to the next store.

Carson loves Porter but isn't a huge fan of sharing... anything... even if it IS Porter's. But when Porter cries he calls out to him and he is always trying to take Porter's car seat out the door to go with us. He runs around Porter all day long and watches videos with him and shows him his trucks. Porter adores him.

Carson talks about his cousing Logan all day long. This morning he said, Daddy, Mommy, milk, Logan... in that order. Yeah he loves that kid, and he watches him carefully. He has been picking up on all of the things that Logan does when they play together. Even if you don't realize it, he is paying attention. Carson is a tattle tale, too. When he is doing something that he just learned, he yells Logan's name -- which is usually jumping on the couch or in Porter's crib. I hope they can stay close as they get older.


Carson had his first dentist appointment on Friday. The dentist said that his teeth and gums are looking good and the spacing looks good. Carson laid down in the chair for about 1/2 a second and then it took 2 of us to brush his teeth. I didn't get a picture because I was helping hold him and the whole appointment only lasted about 4 minutes.

Carson is still a big boy and most people think he is about a year older than he actually is. And then most people talk to him like he is way older and look puzzled when he doesn't respond at all. Oh yeah and he is our child so he isn't exactly "social."

He is getting much better at drinking out of a cup and occasionally can drink out of a straw. I am not sure why he doesn't really get the straw thing, but he doesn't. He does love to play with the cup and straw, which may or may not be slightly annoying.

Carson loves to do puzzles and color and read his books. When he is reading them, he doesn't really get any one word right but each page as a whole sounds like when we read to him. He even knows what pages are what. I hope he continues to like reading, too.


Carson is a very busy kid that keeps us on our toes and on most days wears me out. But it is so worth it when we see him happy. I am working on being more patient with letting him do things the way he wants to (not how I tell him to do it) and just enjoying his little personality. I am so grateful that he is able to do all of the things that he can and that he is learning. I still check on him about 5 times a night and I don't think that will ever change. He is always in my prayers and I love him so much. I am so glad he came to our family!
