Carson -- 2 Years Old

Carson just turned 2 last week. I can't believe that it has been 2 years since we brought him home from the hospital and he was so teenie. Now he is a big boy. How has it gone by so fast? It makes me sad. But I am so thankful for the things that he is learning and that he is a healthy growing boy who gets into messes.

Carson is 37 1/2 inches tall and weighs 32 lbs 8 oz. He keeps scooting farther off of the charts for height and he is around 85th percentile for his weight. Carson loves food. For the most part he eats good stuff. He loves all vegetables and fruit, but I have to ration the fruit because he could eat so much of it and it goes through him so quickly. He loves, sandwiches (PB & J, PB & Honey, or grilled cheese), chicken, pizza, cereal, spaghettios (he really just likes to say "uh-oh, spaghettios), oatmeal, yogurt, blueberry pancakes, muffins, pumpkin bread, salad, and anything that we are eating. He also loves snack time. He walks around saying snack all afternoon, and usually doesn't care what that consists of. He loves milk and water and just about 3 weeks ago, her learned to drink from a straw... thank goodness. It is so much easier when we go somewhere now, I don't have to take his cup with me.

Carson LOVES to be outside. When he is outside he is so happy and he usually only wants to go inside for a drink or a quick break. And then wants to be right back outside, playing or just walking around. He also loves going for rides in the stroller with Porter and as soon as we get it out, he climbs right in.

**Carson giving a high five, with Porter completely oblivious in the background**

On Carson's actual birthday we spent the day doing fun things. We went to a pumpkin patch and he had so much fun. He climbed up on the tractor that pulled the trailor for everyone to take a ride and was steering... luckily the keys weren't in it. Travis kept yelling at me to take a picture, but I kept yelling at Travis to get him down. I am still not sure how he got up there.
**We also went to a park and let him swing for what felt like forever and we went and got french fries. (For free, by the way, because Joe's FarmGrill gives you $10 off on your birthday-adult or kid). And we didn't make him take a nap.**

He had fun bouncing and just playing around. He picked out a pumpkin and 2 stickers to put on it. Then he was sick of that and wanted to roam around. But he still has the pumpkin here at home and carries it around everywhere.

Carson likes puzzles and books and cars and playing with anything that makes noise. He really likes Porter's toys, that just a couple months ago could not have cared less about. He loves crayons, which he calls color and loves play-doh, which he also calls color. Probably because they both sit on top of the fridge and I get them down when I ask him if he wants to color.

Carson still says buddy like, "Bu-yee" and it still melts my heart when he says that. His newest infatuation and favorite word(s) to say all day long is lightpole. His dad showed him those last week when they were outside playing and he loves to walk around and touch each one and tell us what they are. He also likes the bushes that he says with a "d" sound instead of a "b."

When Carson saw this picture below of him yelling, he said "hat" and "mouth." I am not really sure why that cracks me up so much but it does.

Carson got a Mr. Potato Head for his birthday and knows all of the body parts. He can still count to 10. And he can pick out A and K from the alphabet. (He has liked K from the beginning and likes to sing that part)
He can now climb up onto our bed on his own (our bed is up high on riser things), which kind of stinks, because that is where I would put things I didn't want him to get.

Carson now sleeps in his toddler bed and loves it. Sometimes when he is putting up a fight, I still put him down for a nap in Porter's bed, because he has forgotten that he can climb out of there. He usually runs down the hall after we say our family prayer and climbs right in bed with his monkey, cow and cubby bear. He usually wants Wrigley (Nada) too and doesn't understand that he is Porter's. Carson has never fallen asleep like this before, not even when he was a baby. We let him watch a video the other night before bed, but we turned off the light to calm him down. About 45 minutes later I thought it was too quiet since the video is only 20 minutes long. We went in his room to find him sleeping like this. Who knows how long he stared at that tv that closely before he finally closed his eyes?
Carson is also getting more and more cuddly and loves to rest his head on our shoulder and get his back scratched.

Carson is just so cute and happy most of the time. Sometimes he is hyper and that wears me out very quickly. And on most days he wears me out anyway, because he is so busy and alwasy doing something.
We love him so much. He is such a good big brother to Porter, who absolutely adores him. I stay up late so many nights just worrying about these little boys. They are both constantly in my prayers and I love them more than I can express. Anytime I go anywhere without them, I miss them so much and can't wait to get back home to see them and kiss them goodnight. Carson is only 2 years old and he has already taught me so many things. I love how he and Daddy are buds and I hope they always can be close. Happy Birthday, little bu-yee.

I can't believe he is 2 either. It seems like we were just there for that weekend 2 years ago (when Dad had a conference). I remember holding Carson and worrying because he was so little and so skinny. I also remember leaving him with Travis and Carson looked so little because they were sitting on that huge bed, just hanging out together. I love the pictures and how much you and Travis love him and Porter. You are both so cute and so patient with him.
