Our Day

Sometimes I think I don't document enough of our typical days and daily life.  Since this blog is one of my journals, I really need to start doing it more often.  I haven't done anything during the day in two weeks (since my parents left).  I mean, I haven't gone anywhere with all the kids.  I am a homebody and love having a routine/schedule.  So when things get crazy, I like to fall back on being home and getting back into the groove of things.  Especially with the littlest guy getting here, I have just needed to readjust.  It is so nice.  I am so so thankful to Travis for being such a hard worker so I can stay home with the kids.  And I love how he comes home and immediately starts playing with the kids.  He usually gets them pretty wound up because they are so excited to see him, but it's ok.

Yesterday was a pretty typical uneventful day.We all woke up.

It was Hudson's first night wearing actual pajamas instead of a onesie.  And of course they are huge on his chicken legs.

Porter woke up happy as can be.  Nothing new there.

Carson had picked out which pajamas he wanted to wear the night before.  Sadly, they were Porter's and an 18 month size.  He INSISTED on those specific ones because they were the closest resemblance to Porter's.  Travis had to cut off the arms and legs just so we could actually get them on him.  I think they stretched out a bit during the night.  I still called them his hulk pajamas.  When he saw this picture he said "There's Carson and his hulk pajamas!"  And he wouldn't not hold still at all for a picture.

We all ate breakfast and played all morning until lunch.

Carson has someone come over to work/play with him through Early Intervention.  He is in that because he is behind in some areas of communication.  Audra is a developmental specialist and comes over once a week.  Carson really loves her, enjoys this time and looks forward to it every week (or at least the morning when I tell him she is coming).  Obviously he likes her--she was actually able to get him to smile for a picture, which does not happen often.

Then all morning and pretty much any time he is awake, Porter spends it climbing.  He likes to climb all over this couch and dive into the pillows.

He just recently figured out how to get to the top of the couch... great!

I have started more of a schedule with Hudson this week (even though he kind of already put himself on one).  I got out some toys for him to play under during his few moments awake.  He just layed there and stared for close to 45 minutes!  That is probably the longest stretch he has ever been awake.  He didn't make a peep.

The boys eat lunch at 11:00 every day and go down for naps right after.  Porter goes right to bed and Carson usually talks and sings to himself for a little bit--sometimes hours.  Usually they wake up at about 4:00, happy as can be.  I am usually pretty happy too
(who wouldn't be?).  I have time to make dinner, clean, get some things done, make phone calls, shower, eat lunch, or nap... or all of them.
Hudson eats every 3 hours and during the middle of the day is pretty sleepy.  So he is asleep most of that time right now too.  I wake him up to feed him at about 1 or 1:30 and he goes back to sleep until about the same time the other boys get up.

Then when Travis got home he colored with Carson.  The boys ate some dinner and we went to Costco and Grandma and Grandpa Grover's house.  We have been taking the boys to the park lately in the evening and we wanted to just let them play in the backyard, but not really have to follow them around all night.  They didn't really want to play out there.  Then Travis and I took Hudson and ran to the mall for about half an hour while Grandma and Troy watched Carson and Porter.
We picked up the boys, grabbed a Little Caesar's pizza and went home.  Porter ate another dinner (because he isn't known for passing up pizza) and we all went to bed at a halfway decent time.

That was it.

I would say the majority of our days are pretty simliar to this.  We just try to spend time together as a family and let the kids play outside as much as possible in 100+ degree weather.  The kids are so little and I love having them around.  I know there are times to come that they will have activities, sports, school, playing with friends and a ton of other things that just keep us so busy.  So for now, I am just enjoying life being pretty low-key.  We like to get together with friends or get babysitters on weekends so we can have adult conversation and feel normal.

I love my family!

Cute pics, Em. I love Carson's smile with Audra. . . .and Sr. Monkey on the couch. Hudson's cheeks, arms, legs and tummy are looking a bit pudgier. It's nice to be able to stay home most of the time, but it is also nice to be able to go outside or the park go to Grandma's. Is Travis still doing breakfast with the boys?
