Over Labor Day weekend we took another trip to the beach. Travis' sister and brother-in-law invited us to go with them. The kids love it there, especially Carson. He was so mad when we packed up our chairs and umbrella and sand buckets. I picked Travis up from work on Friday (since he works practically half-way to San Diego) and we got there early enough for our kids to play at the park for a little while.
In the car Porter kept asking "Dad, where are you taking us?" Over and over. It is cute but gets slightly obnoxious the bazillionth time. The kids were all well behaved in the car, except when Carson said his seat was pokey and unbuckled and was laying on the floor. And I survived the mountains. I hate mountain driving. HATE!
So Saturday, we went to the beach early, got rockstar parking and stayed until about 3. I am pretty sure I forgot to put sunscreen on my face and even though I thought I was under the umbrella all day, I got fried and now I am peeling. Awesome. I applied the kids sunscreen much better this time around. After the beach all of our kids fell asleep in the car, in only diapers (classy). Then Saturday night we made a fire and sat around and ate yummy mexican food and s'mores. It was perfect weather.
The next day, we woke up and attempted a hike which ended up being just Travis and Porter with Brian and Sadie. Trisha and I took the rest of the boys to the park. We all played at the park, and Travis probably had the most fun. Then we ate lunch by a lake and tried to feed some ducks that started to get too close for comfort. Or maybe they were geese? I don't know, but they were big and a little crazy. And they started following us.
Then we headed home and the boys were sad to leave their cousins and San Diego. All the way past Yuma, Carson was still asking if we were headed to Megan's house (Brian's sister-where we stayed). He kept telling us to turn the car around. And every sign we passed, he would say "Dad, did that sign just say Megan's house?" At first we said no, but when he kept getting more mad, we finally just said, "Yeah I think it did." Last time, I got sleepy on the way home. This time, we ran out of gas right as we got on I-10 near Buckeye. Luckily we made it to an off-ramp. Not so luckily it was 1 mile from a gas station and an exit to nothing, so we couldn't find help. But roadside assistance took less than half an hour and netflix on my phone entertained the kids for a little bit.
As we were coming home I got sick and layed in bed all day Monday. Again, awesome. Thank goodness Travis was home to take care of the kids.
Pictures, mostly of the beach and in a random order. Dang it, blogger.
Hudson got sand in his eyes, so Travis washed him off in the ocean. In this picture he was still traumatized.
Carson loving every second of making a pool and waterslide in the sand.
I was snapping some pictures and looked over and Sadie was posing for me.
I barely missed Porter digging his head in the sand, which he does the majority of the time we are there.
Hudson tired but still wanting to play.
Jaxon, Logan and Carson. I love Sadie over on the mound of sand.
All the kids made it into this picture, even Hudson's head.
Sandy faces. Surprise, surprise.
When we started out the day it was close to high-tide, the kids sand hole got washed away a few times. Then a couple hours later it was so far out.
Carson and Logan were having fun laying in the shallow water pretending to be fish.
Snacktime
Sitting out front before our fire. Hudson, Jaxon, Porter and me.
Hudson and Daddy watching the flames and waiting for candy for s'mores.

Awesome pics! Looks like so much fun. I have been wanting to go to the beach so bad lately. We keep talking about going for fall break but I don't dare plan anything too far in advance or we will have sick kids or something! For now I will live the beach life through your pics:)
