So I spent last weekend browsing on the internet about BPA and plastics and all of the horrible things that we give our kids and use ourselves everyday. Last week I decided to go get Carson a bottle that doesn't have any bad stuff in it and throw away all of his other ones. It was hard because I am cheap and I bought Carson's bottles and extra nipples and different sizes and all of that, planning on using them with multiple kids. Well after all of my internet research I found some lady's blog that said she thinks Babies R' Us will take the "bad" bottles back for some sort of credit. I was bummed because I threw them all away when I got the new one last Thursday! Then I had an idea... again me being the cheap person that I am, put on some old clothes and took a trip out to the dumpster. I looked in and immediately saw the trash bag I was looking for (I could see the Similac formula cans showing through). The dumpster was too high to just grab it, but conveniently there was a random shopping cart by the trash can, so I climbed on that. I still couldn't quite reach so I had to climb in the dumpster completely. I grabbed my trash bag and brought the smelly, nasty, hot thing inside and went through it all. There were about 52 dirty diapers in there and there was still formula in some of the bottles. That combined with the heat was incredibly disgusting. I washed them all out and was excited... I decided that even if I got like $1 a bottle I would be happy. I so wish Travis would have been home to take a picture of me in the dumpster. I can't believe I did that, but I was laughing the whole time I was in there! Anyway, I took the bottles back to Babies R' Us for my maybe $9 total! Well, they gave me full credit on all of the bottles. Obviously, they wouldn't just give me money back so I had to get bottles that didn't have BPA for an exchange. I ended up getting bottles that I had seen but would never pay for ($27 for a pack of 3) and some other ones that were drop-ins for the next baby. I was just so freaking excited! I came home and was so happy and proud of myself for being so cheap! Also, the bottles that I got are Born Free and I love them! So if anyone still has baby bottles that have BPA and they sell them at Babies R' Us... go exchange them (they take them back even if you didn't buy them there) and get ones that are better for your little ones!
