Park Night

Travis got off of work a couple minutes early tonight.  So we went straight to the park.  The first one we tried was mostly underwater from the crazy storms this morning.  So we ended up at one with no sand/mud.

I don't know why I need to post 20 pictures of the kids on the swings, but I do.  I am a picture person, the more the merrier.  And since I am trying to get back to blogging more about our everyday life, why not include everyday pictures... x10.

We just asked Hudson if he was done on the swing so Carson could take a turn.  He wasn't too happy about that question.

But he moved over and was perfectly fine.

They are so lucky to have a dad that pushes them on the swings forever and does underdogs all night.  They could not stop giggling.

It may seem like I take more pictures of Hudson, but he is the easiest to follow around and holds still the longest.

FHE at the Train Park

Monday night for Family Home Evening we got together with a couple of other families and went to the train park in Scottsdale.  I don't know the real name of the park.  The line was really long to ride the train, but luckily some of the other people that were with us stood in it while the kids played at the playground.  It went faster than we thought it would.  The kids LOVED the train ride.  It is about a 5 minute ride that takes you around through a bunch of Christmas lights.

Waiting in line, Travis had to keep Carson occupied.

Finally on the train!  All that waiting, made Hudson very tired.  He fell asleep in the Baby Bjorn... again.  We could only get Porter to stay by us by bribing him with veggie straws.

Kristin and her family, waiting in line.

Kathi and Ryan, pretending to not have kids (they were too into the train to pose for a picture)!

After the train ride, we rode the carousel--me and Carson and Porter.  I felt sick the rest of the night from that.   **When we got home, before putting Porter in bed, I told him that I had fun riding the carousel with him.  Carson said, "Yeah, Porter, I had fun riding the carousel with you.  Yeah, Porter, I had fun riding the vegetable-sel with you."  It took me a minute to get what he was saying.  Then I couldn't help but laugh.  You never know what is going through their little heads!**

Then the boys had to give Elmo a big hug.  But Carson waited in line to hug the Cat in the Hat.  I thought I got a picture of it.  It was so cute.  He waited patiently, when it was his turn to go sit by him, he climbed right up and gave him an enormous hug.  Then he posed for some pictures and gave him another hug before he got down.

I told Travis to get in the picture with Hudson.  He thought I meant to be creepy in the picture!
Our kids don't watch Sesame Street too often.  Carson called this guy "Blue Elmo."

I don't like it when you get home and can see the people inside the costume because of the flash from the camera!  Too weird, I'm surprised I didn't have nightmares.

Checking out the real train full of lights, before we went home.  We listened to and sang Christmas music in the car on the way there and the way back.  Carson keeps talking about the whole experience.

Kristen, thanks for organizing it and inviting us.  We had a wonderful time on our "family girls night out."  Brittney, we missed you and hope your family is feeling better!

SO behind

Holy crap, I still had my Christmas card up as my header. Could I be farther behind? Well, I could still have my Christmas lights up, I guess.

We went to the park tonight and I got a silhouette picture of our family. Carson kept trying to run down the hill and a bunch of other kids kept trying to be in our picture. We had to pretend to race them down the hill so they would leave. I know, we are really nice. We managed to capture a few decent ones. Plus Carson had a blast feeding the ducks his cheerios. I guess I should just say "duck" because one of them hogged everything that we threw in. Are ducks even supposed to eat cheerios?? Carson kept throwing them in the water and saying "Here you go duck" and then he would shake his head like they do when they are shaking water off of them.

It was fun and the weather was absolutely perfect today. Maybe that is why there were about 237-niner people at the park--including 2 different weddings! How weird?

Family Time

I caught them both in the middle of eating.

Yesterday we went to Freestone Park to hang out as a family. We took some charcoal and some hamburgers and spent a couple of hours just letting Carson play. He likes to run up and down the hills at the back of the park (which I noticed a couple of times ago that it is right underneath the enormous power lines) and yesterday he was obsessed with the swing. When we would get sick of pushing him, we would take him out and try to get him interested in other things. But he would just stand there and stare at the swing. He did take a little bit of time out to eat and go down the slides. We had a lot of fun spending time together. The weather has been so nice lately. And in the shade it was perfect. The ants that kept following us (Carson's food droppings) around were not pleasant. Porter just stared at the trees blowing and hung out in his stroller.
