Carson's Fun Run

Carson participated in his first school fundraiser.  The Apex Fun Run.  He didn't really understand pledges and how that works to raise money for the school.  But they spent 2 weeks at school talking about it and getting the kids motivated.  The cheers are pretty hilarious.  So Carson called Grandma and Grandpa Garrett, Grandma and Grandpa Grover, Uncle Troy and Uncle Josh (and me) to pledge.  We all pledged a little bit and he got some prizes from his school.  He ran off of the bus the day he got the prizes and had the happiest look on his face.  Two little lights (finger lights) and a watch.  Such a happy kid!  Every day for those 2 weeks he would ask me, "Is my Fun Run tomorrow?"  The day finally came, he was ready with his running outfit the night before and woke up extra early and was dressed before I even saw him in the morning.   I took Porter and Hudson and Grandpa Grover came to watch.  It was entertaining to watch a lot of kindergartners and first graders run all crazy around the track.  It did get hot and Carson got a lot of water breaks.  He loved it and he loved the free shirt too.  He wanted to wear it again the next day to school.

Carson Turns 4... tomorrow!

**orange birthday crown from school**

Wow, what a big day!  He has been talking about getting a green rocket and binoculars for his birthday for about 6 months.  He is just going to have to wait and see what happens.  Since he had school today, I let him wear his 4 shirt and take cupcakes to school.  I had to take a couple quick shots before he got on the bus.  He would not hold still, or smile or look at me, much less at the same time.  It was rough, plus my camera was on the wrong settings anyway.  We will get plenty more pictures of this weekend, his birthday and halloween parties!  FUN!

He was singing happy birthday to himself in these next 2 pictures.

Preschool

Carson started preschool this year.  It is his second year in the public schools.  He goes to the same school, same classroom, goes on the same days and at the same time, has the same teacher, same bus drivers and is loving it so far.  Summer felt long and short at the same time.  It was weird.  Carson was really excited to get to go back.
We went to "Meet the Teacher" a couple days before school started and he couldn't stop smiling.  He was so happy to have me in there with him and showing me all the stuff that they do.  Then last Thursday when he finally got to go, we waited outside for the bus.  When Carson saw it come around the corner, he seriously had the biggest smile I have ever seen and he started giggling.  And he ran up to the bus and got on.  Such a difference from last year when I had to pry him off of me, into his seat.  And he was crying and I was sad.  But now he is almost 4 and he "growed bigger."  At least that is what he always tells me.
I only posted a couple of pictures of his first day, out of the zillion that I took.
I think he was excited and maybe a little bit nervous/anxious, because he let me take pictures of him, he held up his sign and looked at me when I asked.  And he was really quiet while waiting.  Hard to tell since he probably doesn't know if that is how he felt, but it seemed a little that way to me.  He is so darn cute.
Oh and he got a new green backpack that he was so happy about.  Green is his favorite color, he even tells me his eyes are green (even though they aren't) because he likes it so much.

P-R-E-S-C-H-O-O-L

Carson's first day of preschool was yesterday. Travis gave him a father's priesthood blessing on Sunday night.
I think things went well at school.  He saw the bus and did not want to get on it.  I had to carry him on and buckle him in.  The bus helper had to sit next to him.  He was screaming and tears were flowing and he kept saying "Mommy sit down."
He came home and his face wasn't red or puffy and he seemed fine.  His paper said that he was happy at school.  He talked my ear off at lunch.

Today he closed the garage door, handed me the button, took his backpack, walked on the bus and sat down all by himself.  He looked out the window and smiled and waved at me.
The bus driver also said when they turned the corner yesterday he was fine.  Really?  I had a hard time for the 2 1/2 hours he was gone, but he was fine at the corner?  I see how it is!

He wanted to hold Hudson for a picture before his first day of preschool (that he didn't really even know he was going to).

Holding the garage door button, which he LOVES!

He always looks so serious, he has a little smirk in this one.  I love it.

The bus leaving.  He was fine by this time.

Tear.
