Halloween

Halloween seemed to last forever, with halloween parties, the ward trunk or treat and actual Halloween Trick or Treating.  The boys loved it and we still have a pumpkin full of candy.  Great.  They were all monkeys.  It was easy and dirt cheap and they loved it!  Everybody kept calling them bears.  I took video of the Porter and Carson coming home on Halloween night after they walked the whole neighborhood.  Travis didn't think they would go that far.  They took a drink break with the juice box they got.

Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend we went to the pumpkin patch.  It was still pretty hot, but that helped it to not be so crowded.  First they all jumped in the bounce house.  Travis got Carson and Porter out and came home with the wrong shoes for Carson and almost 2 pair for Porter.  Carson kept telling him that the letters were gone on his black flip flops.  He was right, the letters were gone.  He was talking about OldNavy.
We did the "hay" ride and the hay maze.  The boys got balloons, which Hudson so affectionately calls a ball.  They played in a little playhouse and we ate peanut butter sandwiches (THEY ate peanut butter, I had cotton candy).  Carson went to get his face painted but she had just closed down.  We went and talked to the animals -- cows, goats, pigs and chickens.  Then the boys picked out a little pumpkin each and we put them out by the front door.  If it doesn't cool down they will probably rot before Halloween even gets here!
It was a lot of fun and the boys loved it.  Later in the week Carson dumped out all of the toy buckets to build a hay maze in the living room.  Yay.

Our Little Monkey

Hand-me-down costumes are the best.  Hudson loves this thing and keeps backing up into me so I will put it on him.  Then he says "ah-ah".  What a cutie.  Porter wanted to be a monkey for halloween but unfortunately the costume fits Hudson.  So I asked him again and he said a black bat.  Carson wants to be a spider.  Last week it was a pirate and then a goat.  When he wanted to be a pirate, he wanted "a biiiiiigg boat."  Here's to hoping he still wants to be a spider.

Hopefully it cools down before next weekend.

Our Weekend

Saturday we went to ASU's homecoming parade.  We picked a spot on the route that was in the shade since it was still pretty toasty outside.  It worked out that we were the first people so we got all the good stuff thrown to us.  The boys started their candy binge early!  After the parade there was a kids zone area.  Carson loved the different bounce houses.  Porter was dying to go in one but wouldn't actually go.  We had a wonderful time hanging out together and letting the kids have fun.

Travis and the boys.  Porter's hand are ALWAYS in his mouth. It's so sick.  He is also pointing out the airplane in the sky.

Me and the boys this time.  Before I uncovered Hudson's face.

Hudson is so sweet.  Didn't make a peep the entire parade or time that we were out.  Even though he was supposed to eat right about the time that we left to go there.  I made him some skull baby legs to try to be a little festive.  He loves them!

I don't usually post pictures of just me.  Cause that is weird.  But Travis took this and I am impressed with his picture taking skills.  So although I don't like the subject, I love the composition.

After Hudson got his beads he couldn't take anymore.

I love how he falls asleep with that hand by his head.  So freaking cute!

Carson with not one, but two suckers.  And Porter with his hands in his mouth again.

Carson going down the bouncy slide thing.

His outfit got better!  Once we moved out of the shade Hudson needed a hat to cover that bald head so he wouldn't get a sunburn.  Travis buzzed his head last week (while I was gone) and it's still a touchy subject.  I was very sad. Not only does that hat not match, it's too small.

Sparky!

Saturday night we went to our ward's Trunk or Treat.  The boys basically wore normal clothes, a bandana and a construction hat.  We let them take their trucks to push around.  I planned on doing more for this outfit but didn't get around to it.  After the fact, I am glad I didn't spend time on it.

 They were "fixing the lightpole."

Porter could have been a pirate.

 Carson chillin'.

Construction workers?  Pirates?  Kids who just want candy?

By the time we got home on Saturday night, Travis and I were exhausted.  But we kept talking about how much fun we had all day.  It was just a really good, fun day with the kids and each other!

And after the Trunk or Treat we got a leftover pumpkin.  We carved it tonight for FHE with the boys, even though it's November.

Porter is 8 Months Already!

Porter is 8 months old (as of Tuesday)!! He has learned so much in the past month. Porter is mostly smiles but sometimes gets sad and occasionally gets mad when he is very, very hungry or tired. He has 4 or 5 bottles a day and usually eats food 3 times a day. He doesn't really like food very much so I have to feed him that before his bottle so he will eat it. He takes 2 naps a day, 3 every now and then, and goes to bed with Carson at about 7.
Porter loves bathtime. He kicks and kicks and squeals the entire time.

He loves Carson and just stares at him all day long. When Carson walks by, Porter smiles and giggles. He loves to sit in the stroller next to him. Sometimes he gets upset when Carson starts yelling.
This morning I heard Carson talking really softly and when I opened their bedroom door to get them up, I found Carson sitting by PoPo's crib talking to him. Porter was just looking through the slats at Carson. I didn't even know he was awake, because he wasn't making any noise.

Porter likes to go to the park and eat the grass. He was scared of it a couple of months ago, but now it doesn't seem to bother him.

For Halloween, Porter was a skeleton. I figured he might be at the crawling stage around halloween and I didn't know what the weather would be like. So I wanted to keep it simple and not all big and bulky.

He was so happy to be a skeleton!

Porter can hold his own bottle. This is the greatest thing ever. Carson NEVER did that. It is so nice to be able to hand him a bottle in the stroller or carseat and for the most part he can eat. Sometimes it gets everywhere, but he is still happy just playing with it.

Porter has 3 teeth. It is funny that he has one on the side. I think the other one is finally coming in on the other side to match, but he will still look like dracula. He was so happy to smile for this picture.

Here is Porter sitting up. He had been working on sitting and he started doing it kind of all at the same time as crawling. He still falls backwards a lot, though.

Porter was crawling to come get us. I was in the bathroom giving Carson a bath. I turned around and I could see his head bobbing around the corner. He was probably really excited because he heard bath water.

And apparently he had too much to eat for lunch.

Porter HATES to have his face wiped after he is done eating. He starts screaming immediately. He loves tv of any kind, and still gets all excited as soon as you hit power on the dvd player. He can not pay attention to anything else when the tv is on. Sometimes I try to feed him when Jeopardy is on and it doesn't work. He eats for 2 seconds and then watches tv... eats for 2 seconds and then watches tv again.
Porter really likes faces. If your face is within reach of his hands he will have a grip of something before you realize it. It usually hurts too.
Porter weighs 20 lbs. 6 oz. I don't know how tall he is but he seems pretty big. He is wearing mostly 12 to 18 months clothes because of his length. It is so crazy to see him in outfits that Carson wore when he was walking.
Porter is pretty sick right now, and we just hope that he gets better soon.

Porter we love you. You crack us up every single day when you chase the little toy balls around like a cat. You paw at them, then chase them and repeat until we let you. It also cracks me up how you always find the boingy door stopper, even though it is kind of hidden, and are entertained for a long time. I love your huge grin that goes from ear to ear and the squeals of excitement that you let out all day. I love how when you are sleeping your bottom lip curls out. You have such a fun, bubble littel personality and just LOVE attention. I love it. Happy 8 months, PoPo.

Our lil' cowboy

Carson was/is going to be a cowboy for Halloween. We went to a birthday/halloween party on Saturday night and this is him ready by 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon. He wasn't a huge fan of putting it all on. Once it was on, I said "wow, Carson, you look awesome" and then he loved it. He walked around saying "awesome" the rest of the day.

We are planning on going to the ward Trunk or Treat on Friday night so he can dress up again. But he has a hard time running around and climbing in these chaps, so we will see how long it lasts.

Trick or Treat

Just in case any of you are NOT going to be lame for Halloween this year and pass out candy at your home, here is an article on what not to give out. I still remember when I was little, getting home to go through all of that loot and finding things that were dissappointing (and sometimes scary). I agree with the article, minus the candy corn diss. I love those things and Halloween is the only time I can find the Brach's brand anywhere. I would never pass them out to trick-or-treaters (hello... unwrapped candy). I also would add those nasty peanut butter candies. Those things are so sick, they must be $1 for a 5 lb. bag... yuck! I just got all grossed out just thinking of those (no offense if anyone hand those out)!
