Porter turns 4!!

Before Porter's birthday I took him out on a lunch date.  Carson was at school and a friend watched Hudson.  I let him choose and he picked Grimaldi's.  Free pizza... even better.  He thought the flowers were so pretty, so he was posing.  It is nice to have some one-on-one time with each kid occasionally.

Porter turned 4 on Sunday March 3.  He had a fun day filled with balloons, church, treats from the Bishop, naps, lunch, presents, pizza and cake.  Before we opened presents or really did anything for his birthday he was eating lunch (and we let the boys watch roadrunner and coyote) and he yelled out, "This is the best birthday party ever!"  He is so easily entertained and satisfied!

There are a ton of pictures.  Porter got a new 4 shirt, with green like he requested.  When you ask him what it says, he looks down and says "I. Love.You."  as he is pointing.  Sweet, sweet, sweet.  Here he is perfecting the right amount of fingers to hold up.

He opened presents while Grandma Margie and Grandpa Norm were on Skype.

These 2 were supposed to be posing for a picture together.

New window markers

Helping make the pizzas.  This is one of Porter's very favorite things to do.

Hudson kept saying, "Take a picture of me.  Take a picture of my new cars."

Lots of balloons all over

Being a bear.

Waiting all day for this was so hard!

And then he got 2 pieces.  Why not?  It IS his birthday.

Some things about Porter at 4 years old:

Porter is so sweet.  He loves to cuddle and lay around.  But he is also a hard worker and is a wonderful helper with dinner, dishes, chores and picking up toys.
He can ride a bike without training wheels, but still needs help starting.
Porter loves any and all sweets.  He loves garlic bread, mozzarella cheese, crackers and pretzels, chips, pizza, fish sticks, chicken nuggets and taquitos.  But depending on the day, sometimes he gags and almost throws up and has to spit any of these things in the trash.
Porter likes to draw and color.  He usually colors everything on the page one color.  He has just started drawing cars, stick people, balloons and trees. He can't write his whole name, but has started getting the first letters. And he can draw his shapes.
Porter is obsessed with "the earfth" (the earth).  He is always asking if we are in the earth, or if things are in the earth, if Mesa is in the earth and he says "what in the world in the earth?" He also ALWAYS wants to know what city we are in. "What city is this?"  And if you tell him, he says ok and then asks again 1 minute later.
He also always asks "what day is it?"  And instead of saying tomorrow he says, "do I have school they day after this?"
He loves to be around people and always wants to be hanging out with family and friends.  He loves all of his cousins and really loves it when they give hugs or are excited to see him.  I think he really likes his Aunt Trina.  She always yells his name and gives him a big bear hug when he walks in the door and now he expects it.
Porter still loves to chew on things that are not food, and yesterday he ate his birthday coupon at church.  He was supposed to give it to the bishop for a handshake and a goody bag.  But he ate the piece of paper first.  Gross.
Porter still naps a couple of times a week.  He loves his soft, brown and blue blanket that was his baby blanket.  He takes it to bed every night and when it is dirty, he is sad.
Porter likes to read books, some of his favorites right now are: The Little Engine That Could, One Fish Two Fish Red Rish Blue Fish, Green Eggs and Ham, The Belly Book, Tikki-Tikki-Tembo, and There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.
He loves singing and dancing to music.  He has been making up words and songs lately.  He just starts singing about whatever he is doing at the time.
Porter goes to preschool 3 days a week and loves it.  He got a new teacher today and told me about her when he got home.  He rides the bus and is finally walking to the bus and getting on and sitting down all by himself.  That took about a month for the crying to stop.
He is very sensitive and if you say "no" or don't do that or show that you are mad or upset, he starts bawling.    And he just freezes and slumps his shoulders, his eyes water and he screams at the top of his lungs until you can console him.  But that he bounces back in 1 second.
He is a very active kid and is always spinning and jumping and hopping places.  But he has calmed down a lot in the past year and is well behaved in church and in public.
I love this kid so much.  He is quieter than his brothers, so he gets left out a lot.  But it is usually when they are doing something that is getting them in trouble anyway.
Happy Happy Birthday Porter.  We all love you and are so happy that you are in our family.  You are patient, caring, happy, silly and spunky, and most of the time dirty.  We wouldn't have it any other way!
