Recovery

Travis' eyes are healing quickly.  He still has to wear his Blue Blockers when he goes outside.

They put contacts in to help his eyes heal and he gets those out tomorrow.  He is pretty excited.  He says they get better every day!

For now, I think they kind of freak people out.

Lasik

Travis had Epi-Lasik eye surgery this morning.  Hopefully no more glasses for him.  I can hardly handle the cuteness of him as a little kid with glasses the size of his face.  He doesn't feel the same.  He has wanted it as long as I have known him.
We are hoping recovery goes well and everything comes out as expected!  One of the risks was double-vision.  I told him he would be very lucky if he saw 2 of me!

Celebrating 4 Years

Travis and I had our 4th wedding anniversary on August 11.  We didn't do much to celebrate.  We got a babysitter (Thanks, Brittany!) and went to Chili's.  I had been craving chips and salsa from there for the last week.  Any time we have any sort of special occasion we go to Oregano's, but neither one of else felt like it.  After that we walked around Target, got Carson some Mickey Mouse underwear and Porter some new flip-flops. Then we went to Wal-mart to get some groceries.  Jealous?  So pretty uneventful, but nice to get out.  We took Hudson with us and Travis was mad, because he said we always have to take a baby with us.  Ok, he wasn't really mad and that is not true anyway.  This is the first anniversary where we took a kid.  He was counting the other two because I had babies in my belly for both of them.
It has only been 4 years but it really does seem like longer.  It is just hard to think back to before we met.  It seems like he has always been a part of my life.  Weird.  I guess that is just how it works.  This picture is from my friend, Rosie's wedding.  We were dating and it was the first time Travis went home with me!!
In 4 years we have had 3 wonderful, healthy, little boys, Travis graduated from ASU, we moved 3 times (and are moving again in a couple of weeks), sold 1 truck, switched jobs 9 times between the 2 of us, and those are the "major" things that I can think of right now.
It has been an awesome 4 years, 5 if you count dating.  The best of my life.  I love Travis so much.  He is a wonderful, loving husband that I appreciate so much.  He is the best father I could ever have imagined for my kids.  I can't wait to see what many more years have in store for us.  But for now, sitting on the couch, watching a movie and cuddling together is my favorite end to the day!

Father's and Son's Campout

Carson went to his first Father's and Son's Campout. I think that Carson and Travis had a good time and now they are both sacked out so I don't know if they got too much sleep. I packed a camera for Travis, but I doubt he even got it out.
**Update 5/16/10: He did get it out and took a couple of pictures of Carson. Thank you, Travis!

Here is Carson getting ready to leave.
And Travis trying to get a picture with him, but he wouldn't hold still
Porter and I stayed home and had a nice evening together, running errands, ordering/eating pizza, playing games and reading books. Then Porter slept in until 9 this morning! With no other little boy to wake him up bright and early, he actually got some sleep.

Travis turns 30!

Happy birthday to Travis! Yesterday he turned 30! He is so old. We had a fun time spending time with him on his special day. I hope he had fun too!
Friday night we made some brownies and had ice cream and sang "Happy Birthday" to him. The picture below was Porter preparing to sing to Daddy.

Saturday morning we woke up early and went hiking. It was a little bit much for Carson, but we made it through and had fun. Travis carried Porter in a pack and held Carson's hand for most of the time.

Then we went and got free lunch at Joe's FarmGrill. And we all went home and slept all afternoon!

Saturday night Travis' mom and brother watched the boys and we met some friends at Z'Tejas.
We tried to go The Big Bang afterwards but weren't able to. So we went and saw Date Night.

Happy Birthday, Travis. I love you!

Our Family Christmas... In Pictures

We had Christmas Eve Dinner over at Travis' parents house.

Porter was watching Carson play outside in the dark

The table was set nicely

After dinner we listened to the Christmas Story and sang Christmas songs.
Then we went home and Carson and Porter opened the Christmas Eve presents... pj's! They already had some Christmas pj's on that Grandma Garrett sent, but they loved the new ones that for some reason I didn't get pictures of??

Carson opening the present... good thing it was clothes

This is Porter's relationship with that tree... it was his nemesis for the week that it was up

Christmas morning, the presents under the tree.

This year we were very blessed. Santa really did come. Someone from our ward (we don't know who) brought all of these gifts for the kids! And then someone else, loaned us a tree. We were very grateful and humbled by this thoughtful act. Christmas was very special this year. We just spent a lot of time together... just us 4!

Carson starting the opening, Christmas morning

He would tear off a piece and then go throw it away. It took forever. But a Mom is proud when her son likes to be clean and have things in their place! Dad was slightly annoyed that it was taking him so long! Plus I made the boys open one present at a time and then play with it and then we would move onto the next. I wanted them to really see what they got... it took FOREVER!

Uh-oh... Porter found something to chew on

Something else to chew on and a serious case of bedhead

I LOVE this picture. This is Carson. He is intently seeing how this airplane works!

Playing some baseball.

Porter gets a chance to play with the toys, too

Carson getting to work

This tent from Grandma and Grandpa Garrett. The second it got set up, Carson's eyes lit up and he immediately went and grabbed everything he could find to take in there.

Finally a smile from Porter. He was happy all morning, but very serious about checking out the new toys. Have I mentioned that his smile looks JUST like his daddy's?

WE spent the rest of the morning together and then went over to Grandma and Grandpa Grover's where the kids had lots of new toys, from Grandparents and cousins, to play with.
Then we took turns babysitting kids and went to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie. It was good and a fun, tiring day.
We had such a wonderful Christmas. It was nice having Travis off of work for a little bit. I love this time of year. It is a wonderful time to really remember what the Season is about and think about the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ.
